Jordi Alba stepped out onto the Camp Nou pitch this afternoon with Barça's 2012/13 kit on his back as 10,000 fans gave him a standing ovation
Alba: "Thank you all for being here. I'm so happy to come come!"
This afternoon, FC Barcelona’s new left back, who learned to play football in the Club’s youth system, donned the Barça strip for the first time since he left the club. This Thursday Jordi Alba trotted out onto the pitch with the number 18 on his back to the delight of the more than 10,000 fans that came to the Camp Nou to see Barça’s new signing.
With British-like punctuality, at 17.00, Jordi Alba came out of tunnel that gives access to the Camp Nou pitch as the Barça anthem rang throughout the stadium grounds. The fans, who had been waiting to catch a glimpse of the player since 15.00, gave Jordi Alba a standing ovation as he came out of the tunnel.
Jordi Alba comes home
Alba couldn’t help but smile throughout his presentation. The L’Hospitalet native greeted the fans after he posed with the Barça strip in front of dozens of photographers and television cameras. The Azulgrana left back then grabbed the mic and thanked the fans for making him feel so welcome: “this is such a special day for me, thank you all for being here. I’m so pleased because I’m coming home.”
The player left the pitch while kissing the Barça crest on his jersey.
