FC Barcelona's Women's team will host Sporting de Huelva on Sunday in the last match of the Liga
Xavi Llorens' players only need to win one point to claim the title
Xavi Llorens: “We'll do things well and we'll win the title”
The FC Barcelona Women’s team are very close to wining the Liga title. With one match to go before the end of the season, the players led by Xavi Llorens only need one point to mathematically clinch the title. The last match is against Sporting de Huelva this Sunday at the Ciutat Esportiva (12:00, Barça TV).
The Azulgrana team, according to the manager, are “very eager and excited” to win the title: “we’ve had a good season. We’ve only lost away to Rayo and Athletic and we drew with Espanyol.” At home, the women’s team have won all of their matches and this is a favourable run for the Azulgranas seeing that they’re playing at home tomorrow. However, Xavi Llorens said that the team “are not overconfident” and that they “will do things well, we’ll win the title.”
Even though the team only need a point to be champions, the Azulgranas are going to look for the win. “We’ll try to win,” said Olga, who added that the team doesn’t feel pressured because they’ve “planned out” how they’re going to play tomorrow.
Ani: “they’ll come to take the Liga away from us”
Sporting de Huelva are currently in the eighth spot of the table with 56 points. The team led by Antonio Toldeo started out the season on the right foot and they quickly earned the moniker of “surprise team of the season.” In the second half of the season, however, the team’s many injuries affected Sporting’s performance. However, Olga said that “they will be a rival that will make it difficult for us.”
The Azulgrana captain, Ani, is clear about how Barça will play tomorrow: “we’ll play one-touch football but we have to keep in mind that they’re coming to give it their all and, if they can, to take the title away from us.”
In the first half of the season the team led by Llorens beat Sporting 0-3 in Huelva. In the first half of the match both teams were fairly even, but in the second the Azulgranas dominated.
