Barça B came really close to breaking Alcorcon’s unbeaten league home record, ha getting a draw at a ground where the hosts had dropped just a single point all season. Eusebio’s team came into the game on the back of a good run and although they found it hard to really get into the game early on, once things began to click they put the Madrid side under plenty of pressure.
Eusebio, who will be without Grimaldo for the next few weeks, put out a defence made up of Patric, Lombán, Planas and Balliu. The game started fast and furious and Fernando Sales jshot over after just 30 seconds, whilst Luis Alberto answered with a fierce shot that tested Alcorcon keeper Dorronsoro – in for the suspended Manu.
Oriol Riera puts hosts ahead
With a solid defence, Alcorcon tried to spring their quick counter attacking game whenever they won possession back and just past the quarter hour mark, ex-Barça trainee Oriol Riera took advantage of a break to put away his 10th goal of the season.
However, despite the hosts’s good defending, Barça B began to create their own chances and Rafinha had a good effort from the edge of the box, before Oriol Riera came close to getting his second with a header.
Luis Alberto equalises
Eusebio strengthened his attacking options by bringing on Deulofeu for Balliu and moving Lobato out to the left at the break and after just five minutes of the second half, Luis Alberto saw an effort come back of the post after a good through ball in behind the defence. But despite the increased pressure, the goal wouldn’t come and Eusebio now threw on Araujo to give the team a reference point up top.
Finally, on 78 minutes Barça’s insistence paid dividends when Rafinha set up Luis Alberto who fired home with a well struck drive with his right foot. The goal spurred the visitors on and they came close to winning the game late on and becoming the first team to win in the league at the Municipal de Santo Domingo this season.
