Tito Vilanova named 12 Barça B players to the team for the first match of the pre-season
The Barça B players Joan Àngel Román, Patric Gabarrón and Carles Planas made their first team debuts with FC Barcelona this week. Tito Vilanova gave all three players 45 minutes of playing time against Hamburg SV in the team’s first match of the pre-season.
Who are they?
Joan Àngel Román arrived to Eusebio Sacristán’s team this summer from Manchester City. The Catalan native, who scored in Barça B’s friendly against Palamós a couple of weeks ago (0-2), was the reserve side’s first signing of the season.
Patric, on the other hand, was promoted to Barça B from Barça’s Juvenil A outfit (U18) this summer. Carles Planas, who was brought to the team by Luis Enrique, started his career in the Barça youth system in 2010.
Nine reserve players
Along with the three debutants, up to nine Barça B players participated in the first team’s match against Hamburg. Oier, Rafinha, Sergi Gómez, Sergi Roberto and Gerard Deulofeu have already made their debuts with the first team in past seasons. Ilie, Lobato, Espinosa and Balliu, on the other hand, have featured in first-team games, but they have yet to play for FC Barcelona in an official match.
