Eusebio Sacristán's men hope to win their first points of the season this evening in the match at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium against Real Madrid Castilla (21.00, C +)
The second Clásico is set to take place just two days after the first Clásico of the season. Tonight’s match, however, won’t feature Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi or Benzema. The game (kick off at 21.00, C +) at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium will feature the reserve sides of the two strongest teams in La Liga.
Both Real Madrid Castilla and Barça B come into the match level on points. The team led by Alberto Toril, promoted to Segunda A last season, lost to Villarreal in its opening match of the season (2-1), while the men led by Eusebio Sacristán were on the losing end of a crazy game against Almería (4-5). Now, the only two reserve sides in Segunda A will try to win their first points on the year.
Investing in the future
Even though the quality of both teams invites high hopes for the future, the immediate challenge for both R.M Castilla and Barça B is to stay in Segunda A. The prize for these youngsters, if they can keep their respective teams in the division, is honing their skills against the best competition available before they make the leap to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona’s first teams.
