Barça B’s victory over Huddersfield in the team’s first match on English soil injected a high dose of morale into the side managed by Eusebio Sacristán. After the match, Sergi Gómez said that “the team played at a very high level both in the first and second halves. We’re feeling great.” So far the B team’s pre-season has been fantastic, they beat Palamós and Huddersfield and drew against Logroñés. In addition, Sacristán’s men have yet to concede a goal.
Newest players get their first minutes with their new team
The match against the English side saw both of Barça B’s new players make their debut. Luis Alberto played the whole second half and started the play the ended in Barça B’s second goal - which was scored by another newcomer, Araujo. After the match, ex-Sevilla man said, “I’m comfortable with my new teammates. They are quality players and it’s easy to play with them.”
Sergio Juste featured in the last 15 minutes of the match. The new signing expressed his joy after making his debut: “I felt great after not being able to play for so long. I’m very pleased that I was able to make my debut, and I’m happy that we won.”
Araujo’s first goal
Sergio Araujo played the entire second half and scored the match-winning goal. The Argentine forward, who’s on loan from Boca Juniors, has quickly adapted to his new team and he thanked his new teammates for their warm welcome: “I want to thank everyone for the support they’ve given me since I arrived, it has helped me adapt and play at a higher level.”
Araujo added: “I’m pleased because we do a good job every time we play. We have to keep on improving, as long as we’re on this path we’ll be ok.”
