The young Portuguese players will travel to Barcelona in the coming hours to undergo their medicals and sign their contracts with Barça's reserve team
FC Barcelona and Sporting Clube Portugal have agreed to terms for the transfer of Agostinho Cá and Edgar Ié. The two players will travel to Barcelona in the next hours to undergo their medicals and sign their contracts with Barça B.
Born in Guinea Bissau in 1993, Cá, a naturalized Portuguese citizen, started his footballing career in Oeiras’ youth academy. He later signed with Sporting Clube Portugal, where he quickly established himself as one of the all-green players with the most potential while playing in the U18 team.
This summer he featured in Portugal’s U19 Euro team, where he faced the Azulgranas Grimaldo and Deulofeu.
The Portuguese player, born in 1994, is known for his ability to play in multiple positions. He’s an adept right back but he can also ply his talent farther up the pitch. Ié signed with Sporting Clube Portugal in the 2008/09 season from Oeiras, and since then he’s been one of the standout players in the Lisbon-based team’s youth academy. In addition to playing on the wing, Ié is also an excellent center back, a position he learned to play under the direction of the current manager of the Sporting Clube’s first team, Ricardo Sá Pinto.
Ié has been a permanent fixture in the youth teams of Portugal’s national sides, but he wasn’t able to participate in the U19 Euro this summer, because he sustained a fracture to the fifth metatarsal of his left foot.
