Before the match against Real Madrid, the fans at the Camp Nou will pay tribute to the Catalan Olympic medalists
FC Barcelona's four Olympic medalists -Navarro, Sorhaindo, Jernemyr and Sjostrand- will not be able to attend tomorrow night's match, but the Club plans to publicly recognise them at a later date
The Catalan medalists from the London Olympic Games will be recognised just before the first Clásico of the season. At 22.30, just before the away game of the Spanish Super Cup is scheduled to kick off, the medalists will make their way out onto the pitch of the Camp Nou to receive a tribute from the FC Barcelona fans. Sandro Rosell will then host the athletes in the stadium’s presidential box.
The following athletes will be present tomorrow night: synchronized swimming bronze medalists Laia Pons and her manager Anna Tarrésy; Mireia Belmonte, silver medalists in the 200 meter breast stroke and 800 free; the five water polo silver medalists, Marta Bach, Roser Tarragó, Ona Meseguer, Ana Copado and Matilde Ortiz; Joel González, who won the gold medal in the taekwondo 58 kg weight class; and the K1 200 meter canoeing silver medalist, Saúl Craviotto.
FC Barcelona’s five Olympians to be recognised at a later date
In this edition of the Olympic Games, FC Barcelona athletes claimed five medals. The Barça Intersport players Sorhaindo (gold), Jernemyr and Sjostrand (silver) won’t be able to attend tomorrow’s match at the Camp Nou because they are currently with the Azulgrana handball team in Doboj. Juan Carlos Navarro, silver medalist, is still on holiday and cannot attend the match either. The Club will publicly recognise the Olympians at a later date. Víctor Sada is the only one who will be at Camp Nou.
