Audi, an FC Barcelona sponsor for seven years, has presented the first team players with their new official vehicles for the 2012/13 season. The presentation took place on the old training field at La Masia, where the Barça players were joined by 25 children of members, who played an important role in the event. Together, the players and children took part in an education session run by Audi’s Road Safety Education School, Attitudes.
The Barça players were divided into three groups, and accompanied the children on different activities associated with road safety. After a theory class, the children drove a toy electric car around a circuit, observing the street signs as they went. The Barça players were alongside them to offer a helping hand with some of the more difficult sections.
Adults take over
The players also had their first go at the steering wheel of the new Audi A3, but not alone. They were joined in the experience by the children.
The event was also attended by the vice presidents of FC Barcelona Josep Maria Bartomeu and Jordi Cardoner, as well as Audi España director Manuel Caballero, and the president of Volkswagen-Audi España S.A., Ludger Fretzen.
It was during the presentation of the vehicles that both Josep Maria Bartomeu and Manuel Caballero got the chance to say how proud they are that FC Barcelona and Audi have been able to work so closely together for seven years. There was also an exchange of gifts, with Manuel Caballero and Ludger Fretzen both receiving FC Barcelona shirts.
The event ended with the 26 cars being handed over to the players and manager Tito Vilanova.
