Twitter in Catalan now a reality

Social network announces that profile can now be configured in Catalan

FC Barcelona, working with the campaign #twitterencatalà, has given a final push to ensure Twitter takes the decisive step and will have Catalan from July 5th

Many Twitter users can now configure their profile in Catalan - these first users are those who have worked directly in the Catalan translation of the application, with all users being able to use Catalan from July 5^th.

This is the culmination of the #twitterencatalà campaign , which the Club and President Rosell joined last November via their official accounts. Twitter themselves acknowledged that Barça’s support for the campaign has been crucial and in a note released a few weeks ago stated: “we are very grateful for the work put in by our community of nearly half a million translators throughout the world and to the enthusiasm shown by entities such as FC Barcelona”.

FC Barcelona has been recognised as the leading sports club in managing social networks and also leads the way in terms of numbers, with 10 million followers of its accounts, @fcbarcelona_cat, @fcbarcelona_es and @fcbarcelona, with the Catalan version boasting 1.8 million followers.

As well as Catalan, Twitter will also be available from July 5^th in Basque, Afrikaans, Czech, Greek and Ukranian.
