To celebrate the launch of its official profile, the Club is organising a competition for “Instagramers” to show off their Barça photos. Users should submit photos related to anything connected to the Club –their teams, their identity or their values for instance – and share them on Instagram.
To enter into the competition, users must tag their photos with the #igersFCB hashtag in their description when they publish them. The competition is free and no registration is needed once the Instagram application has been installed.
The competition is open for all photos taken and published on Instagram between January 15th and 23.59 on 21st. The Club will choose the three winners from the 10 photos which receive most “likes” , based on their aesthetic and graphic quality, as well as the degree to which they match the theme of the competition. The winners will receive an FC Barcelona shirt and a special ticket fir the game between Barça and Osasuna on January 27th coinciding with the first streamed Barça game on Instagram via the Club’s own profile.
The Club, which is the world leader of sporting institutions in the management of social networks, has launched its profile in order to offer a new service for all Barça’s members and supporters, who can exchange information in real time.
In order to see the FC Barcelona photographs, Barça fan users simply have to install the Instagram application, which is completely free of charge, onto their smart phone or go to the website www.instagram.com/fcbarcelona.
Millions of active users
Instagram is a photographic social network for iPhones and android smartphones, which was set up in 2010 and which now has more than 100 million users who upload more than 5 million photos a day. The application’s success lies in large part in its ability to share photos via other social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
Hashtags such as #FCB, #FCBarcelona, #FCBlive or #Messi are frequently found on Instagram, but the Club has now launched its own - #igersFCB - to help fans feel a part of the Club and extend brand loyalty.
The Club’s Director responsible for New Technologies,
Dídac Lee, believes: “A picture is worth a thousand words. Instagram will allow us to strengthen the feeling of belonging to the Club for our supporters and help create an emotional link with the organisation. We would like our supporters to be both participants and protagonists and with their help we hope to become the world’s leading sporting organisation on Instagram”.
