FC Barcelona is starting the new season as it finished the 2011/12 season: as the leading sports organisation in the principal worldwide social networks. The launch of the Twitter account in French, @fcbarcelona_fra, means that fans can now choose between four languages. The Club already has accounts in Catalan, Spanish and English but will now be able to build a closer relationship with French speaking fans. Barça has 11 million followers on Twitter and nearly 35 million on Facebook making our Club the number one sports organisation in social media.
Apart from the sheer quantity of followers, FC Barcelona has also won ‘The Social Star Award 2012’ for the best management of social networks. The award was made thanks to the participation of one and a half billion fans around the world, many of whom chose FC Barcelona as the world’s best sports team 2012 ahead of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Apart from the Club’s main accounts, FC Barcelona also has Twitter and Facebook accounts for the other professional sports sections as well as for youth football, the Foundation, Supporters’ Clubs and Barça TV.
