Marcelinho Huertas has started the pre-season in excellent physical shape. “I feel better now than when I left to play in the Olympics with my national team. I’ve had two weeks to rest, I’m in great shape,” said the Barça Regal player. The Brazilian has already defined what his goals are for the upcoming season: “we’ll try to have a better campaign this year, we have to fight for all the titles. We can’t be content with a small number of titles, we need to try to win the all.” The Barça Regal player added that the “mental block against Olympiacos in the Final Four” cannot happen again.
Three point guards on the team
Marcelinho believes that Barça Regal have brought in excellent new players for the upcoming season. However, with the new additions to the team, the Brazilian will now have to compete for a spot on the court with Víctor Sada and Saras. “This is a luxury for Xavi Pascual, he has diverse and varied alternatives.”
On Barça Regal’s new signing, Jasikevicius, the Brazilian explained that that “he’s an expert when it comes to pick and roll plays, he’s a great shooter and he can help in the creation of our play.”
Marcelinho knew Tomic from his time playing for Bilbao Basket. There, his Croatian team-mates, introduced Marcelinho to Ante Tomic. “We have a good relationship and we’ve played against each other at the national level,” said Huertas.
The Brazilian highlighted Tomic’s ability to execute pick and roll plays and noted that it’s “easy to play with him because of his stature and speed.” Marcelinho added: “now that he’s here, I hope that he’s happy.”
