Barça Regal will face off against Valencia Basket in the semi-finals of the ACB Super Cup on September 22nd in Zaragoza

Barça Regal, champion of the last three ACB Super Cups, have been paired up with their semi-final rivals in this year’s competition. It will be Valencia Basket, on September 22, at the Príncipe Felipe arena in Zaragoza.
The semi-final draw for the ACB Super Cup took place this morning in Zaragoza’s town hall. The Azulgranas were represented by Pere Francitorra, member of the Barça Regal Athletic Commission. The other semi-final will pit CAI Zaragoza and Real Madrid against each other, and the final will be played on the 23rd at 19.00.
Huertas: “Valencia are a tough rival”
The Barça Regal players believe that the match against Valencia it will be a difficult one. “We know that they will be one of the most difficult rivals of the Liga Endesa this year and the ACB Super Cup match will be very difficult,” said Marcelinho Huertas after this morning’s draw. While an optimistic Xavier Rabaseda noted that the recent history between the two sides “will help the team win” in the semi-final round. “We’re going up against a team that have the same core group of players from last year and it will be difficult to win. We’ll need to play a serious game,” said CJ Wallace.

Barça Regal and Valencia Basket faced off in the 2010 final of the competition, where the Azulgranas easily won by 83 to 63. This will also be the third time the two teams play against each other this pre-season. In Barça’s first pre-season match of the summer, Los Che won by 71 to 75. The Azulgranas are scheduled to play against Valencia once again this Saturday, in Sabadell at 19.00.
