Levant 2-9 Barça: A message for Europe

An outstanding goal-spree means the blaugrana already have a foot and half in November's Elite Round

A spectacular blaugrana victory at the Zalgirio Arena. Barça blitzed Levante 9-2 in their second game in the Main Round of the Champions League, which all but mathematically ensures they will finish top of the group and advance to the Elite Round.

It was such a dominant display that Adolfo and Ferrao needed just two minutes to score as many goals, and the second half was to be little more than a formality after they added a further three goals to their account in time for the break.

Levante made a timid attempt to get back into things after the restart, but they knew they were already beaten. Instead, Barça simply punished them further, including a first ever goal for Ortiz in the team, and some minutes for reserve team stopper Àlex Lluch towards the end.
