FC Barcelona 5-0 Sporting Huelva: Great start the year at Estadi Johan Cruyff

Barça Femení have continued their unstoppable form with a 5-0 defeat of Sporting Huelva in their first game of 2022 at Estadi Johan Cruyff. The visitors managed to fend off the best of Barça in the first half, but succumbed to the superior firepower in the second. 

Sporting’s six-man defence was never going to be easy to break down, and they held out for 34 minutes before Lieke Martens finally made it 1-0 off a Paredes cross.

Huelva were forced to bring their lines forward a little, and that was the Catalans’ chance to bite. Martens quickly add two and three to complete a hat-trick, one when latching into a rebound and the second with a deftly placed strike from the edge of the area.

There was still time for two more goals. Rolfö was on the end of a through ball to score with a quarter of an hour to go and Alexia added her name to the scoresheet just four minutes later.
