Eric García visits Barça Store Camp Nou for launch of new away kit

Defender prints his name on the back of the 22/23 shirt whose gold is inspired by the 1992 Olympics, and gets to sign autographs for the fans visiting the store

Eric García spent some of Monday morning at the Barça Store Camp Nou on occasion of the launch of the new Olympic inspired gold-coloured away kit for the 2022/23 season. Featuring nods to gold medals and the Olympic rings, for the first five days following its launch, the new kit is only available from the Barça Stores at Camp Nou, Passeig de Gracia, La Roca Village and Barcelona Airport T1 and T2, as well online via the club’s e-commerce channels. From July 2, it will also go on sale at all the other usual outlets.

The Barça defender stamped his own name on the back of the shirt and also took the opportunity to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans who were in the store eager to be among the first proud owners of the latest jersey. “It’s very nice” said García, who also looked back at the season just ended and said he was “keen to start the preseason and achieve all the targets that the team has set.”

The gold of the shirt is just part of the homage it pays to the 1992 Olympics that were held with such success by the city of Barcelona three decades ago. It also includes an outline map of the city, with such areas as the Eixample, Montjuïc and Barceloneta featuring prominently. Gold is a colour that reflects the values of a winning team, and is also a wink to the women’s team, who are coming off yet another incredible season in which they twice broke the world record for attendance of a women’s game, as well as winning the domestic treble and reaching the Champions League Final for the third time in four years.
