Monbus Obradoiro 84-89 Barça: Gutsy win in Galicia

The blaugranes come away with a great win against the Galicians, Nico Laprovittola proving the difference-maker when needed

Superb blaugrana win! Barça have defeated Monbus Obradoiro 84-89 in what proved a very tough match. Roger Grimau's side started well, but the Galicians reacted to go ahead in the third quarter, before Nico Laprovittola grabbed the game to help seal another victory for the visitors.

Good start for the blaugranes

Barça started well in Santiago de Compostela, with good defence and effective shooting seeing them go 0-10 up. Nico Laprovittola scored two three-pointers almost in a row to extend the early lead. Obradoiro then scored six points without reply, but the blaugranes continued full steam ahead to go in 10 points up at the end of the first (15-25).

Obradoiro close the gap

A change to the script in the second quarter, the Galicians slowly eating away at the Catalans' lead, despite Barça continuing to score. The defences were being breached, mainly due to effective shooting from both sides, and by the end of the quarter, Obradoiro had managed to reduce the lead to two (44-46).

Three-point accuracy for the Galicians

The Galicians were effective from the three-point line after the break and went into their biggest lead of the game (68-59, min. 28). However, Barça also showed their long range shooting skills with Darío Brizuela and Álex Abrines both scoring to stop the rot, despite Obradoiro going into the final quarter six points up (68-62).

Victory confirmed

The final quarter saw both Jan Vesely and Nico Laprovittola grab hold of the game and turn it around. The Czech and Argentinian combining their respective qualities to move Barça back in front (72-73, min. 35). However, the centre ended up being ejected from the game due to technical fouls, so Roger Grimau went with a shorter five, which ultimately proved fruitful. Oscar da Silva played a key role in maintaining the lead and his personal show saw victory almost within grasp (78-85, min. 39). Obradoiro fought to the very end, but a late three-pointer from Álex Abrines saw the Galicians' hopes dashed and victory was confirmed (84-89).
