Real Madrid 89–83 Barça: Defeat in overtime

The blaugranes lose the final of the Endesa Super Cup in an encounter that went right to the wire

It was not to be for Saras Jasikevicius' team after a great first half in the Endesa Super Cup final. Real Madrid came back in the second half to force the game into overtime where they sealed a 89-83 win over the blaugranes. 

Strong defence

The Super Cup final saw Sertec Sanli fly out of the blocks for Barça, scoring his team's first 11 points. Nevertheless, Real Madrid edged ahead and by the end of the first quarter the team from the capital were 17-15 up. 

In the second quarter Saras' team roared back into the encounter and limited Real Madrid to just 12 points. As such, Barça sailed ahead in the game and at half time they were 37-29 ahead. 

Levelling things up 

The second half saw Real Madrid take control of the game and period where they outscored Barça to 26-12 saw them go into the final quarter with a 56-49 lead. 

Nevertheless, the blaugranes held firm and pulled themselves back into the final with Laprovittola leading the way to take the game into overtime at 71-71. 

Defeat in overtime

The extra period was an intense with both sides searching to get ahead. Unfortunately for Barça their opponents picked up some key offensive rebounds to record a 89-83 win.
