26 Barroso

Xavier Barroso

He has already trained and with the first team and been named in the squad from time to time. But he really hit the big time in the summer of 2011, when he and Marc Julià were named as new features of the Barça first team for 2011/12.

Technical profile

After playing at various youth levels for Barça, Barroso has matured as a midfielder with an excellent reading of the game. He builds moves from the back and is an expert passer of the ball. He has a great long range shot and is an expert in enclosed spaces, where he anticipates defenders' moves with innate brilliance.

His main role is playmaking, thanks to his amazing tactical instinct. His play is lacking a certain dynamism, but his intelligent attitude to the game usually makes up for this in any situation.

He marks opponents well and has a high level of concentration, meaning he is by no means an easy person to get past.

His calm yet outgoing attitude have made him a natural leader of all the teams he has played for, even when he was just a kid. Barroso can adapt to any stage and although it is not his role, he is also very strong in front of goal.
