FC Barcelona Lassa v PAS Alcoy: Dominance rewarded in hard fought win (3-1)

Edu Castro's side win against Alcoy to come top of Group A and they now await a rival for the quarter finals of the Lliga Catalana

FC Barcelona Lassa has beaten PAS Alcoy in the second match of the group stage in the la Lliga Catalana (3-1), thanks to goals from Panadero (2) and Àlex Joseph. The blaugrana now have six points from six and they end the group top of the table. They will play the quarter finals on Tuesday 19 September with the opponents still to be confirmed.

Fabulous start

The match started in the best possible way for the blaugranas as Sergi Panadero scored the opener in the first minute. Barça’s number ‘9’’s goal saw Edu Castro’s side take complete control and they proceeded to carve out chance after chance without managing to double their lead.

Alcoy were holed up in defence and they were being suffocated by Barça but they held out well. Barroso, with three shots to the past including a missed penalty, was guilty of spurning chances while also playing excellently in attack. Barça Lassa were still without Lucas Ordoñez and the recently crowned world champions Ignacio Alabart and Pau Bargalló, but they could count on the Argentinians Pablo Álvarez and Matías Pascual.

Another early goal

The second half started exactly like the first one did: with a blaugrana goal within a minute. Alex Joseph scored the 2-0 that had been coming throughout the first half. However, a blue card for Marc Gual gave the visitors a chance to get a goal back from the resulting free kick but Maxi Oruste’s effort was excellently stopped by Aitor Egurrola.

The dominance continued and so did the scoring opportunities with Matías Pascual and Pablo Álvarez going close. The opposition managed to score again the run of play from a Tutti Baieli penalty. However, Barça Lassa secured the result with a Panadero goal two minutes from time (3-1).

In the end, Barça Lassa secured a hard fought and deserved 3-1 victory to secure first place in Group A and secure their place in the quarter finals. The rival will be from Group D and the match will be on Tuesday 19 September.
