The Palau Blaugrana did it again! The 2-0 defeat in the first leg of the Continental Cup was soon forgotten as Barça collected the title for the 17th time, but the first since 2009/10.

Meanwhile, without the Livramento behind them Sporting were clearly lacking something after such a fine display last Saturday. It took just 25 minutes for Barça to move ahead on aggregate at 3-0 thanks to goals from the three summer signings Lucas Ordoñez with a great solo run, Costa with a low drive and Lamas putting the home side in a fine position going in for the half-time break.

The good work continued in the second half, with Marc Gual converting a free. At the other end, Luis Viana and ‘Tuco’ Ábalos were denied by Egurrola with two direct frees and a penalty. Sporting just couldn’t get back into the match, and when Panadero stuck home a penalty, the Barça fans could start celebrating. The visitors added a consolation goal late on but the party had already started in the Palau.

The first trophy of the season was conquered. It’s the 10th time the roller hockey team has won the Continental Cup (but the 17th if counting European Super Cups too). But it’s a trophy that has been strangely lacking of late, and was last won by Barça back in 2009 against Liceo in Bilbao (7-2).
