Marc Gual in action against Breganze/ MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

FC Barcelona defeated Breganze 5-2 in the opening group match of the European League in a convincing display from Ricard Muñoz's side

Barça dominated the early proceedings but were unable to break down the Italian defence and resorted to a number of long distance efforts to no avail. Breganze began to threaten midway through the first-half and grabbed the lead after Alvaro Borja’s effort deflected into the net off a defender.

Second-half reaction

It was only in the second half when Barça really got going. In just four minutes, Pablo Álvarez and Panadero helped turn the game on its head. Then, just moments after an excellent penalty save from Sergi Fernández, Marc Gual made it 3-1 at the other end.

The Italians never gave up and brought the game to 3-2 through Teixidó. But Barça made sure their hope was short lived as Lamas (46 minutes) and Roca two minutes later sealed a big win for the Catalans.
