Pablo Álvarez, celebrando su tercer gol contra el Lleida / MIGUEL RUIZ-FCB

Barça Lassa are winter champions after extending their lead at the top of the table on Saturday thanks to a hard fought victory at home to ICG Software Lleida. Ricard Muñoz’s team now end the first half of the campaign three points ahead of Liceo and five points ahead of Vic, both major rivals for the league title.

The blaugranes were made to work hard for their latest win in the OK Lliga. Pablo Álvarez gave them the opener with a good effort in the opening minutes. Lleida keeper Lluís Tomás kept his side in the game with a series of excellent stops early on. A penalty from Lucas Ordoñez struck the post and Marc Gual came close with a direct hit.

The visitors sat back and waited for the counter attack and they had their reward when Ballestero levelled things up, beating Sergi Fernández with a flick shot. Barça Lassa were back in front soon enough though. Matías Pascual gave them the lead with a finish at the far post after good work from Pablo Álvarez.

A third came from Pablo Álvarez as he scored his second of the night from an assist by Marc Gual. Ricard Muñoz’s side then worked hard in defence to maintain their advantage and the win was rounded off by a fourth from the stick of Xavi Costa with just 12 seconds of the game remaining.
