Lucas Ordóñez, hat trick hero, in action this season / VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

Barça have beaten el Vendrell 6-3 away from home to take a giant step towards the league championship. After a tight first half, in the second a goal from Sergi Panadero and two from Lucas Ordoñez swung the game in favour of Ricard Muñoz’s team. The blaugranes now have 70 points and a win next week against Vic would assure them of the title.

Barça fell behind early on to a goal from Ferrer only for Pascual to bring them level from a free hit. Former blaugrana Sergi Miras restored Vendrell’s lead before Pablo Álvarez and Lucas Ordoñez gave the visitors a 3-2 lead at the break.

In the second half Barça extended their lead not long after the restart, Panadero finishing off a move started by Marc Gual. A moment of quality from Ordoñez added a fifth and then claimed his hat trick to put the game beyond doubt. Vendrell pulled one back through another former Barça man David Martínez before the end.

Barça could have clinched the title had their nearest rivals Vic and Liceo slipped up. However, the former’s win at home to Noia Freixenet means that Ricard Muñoz’s team will have to wait until next Saturday where a home win over Vic will hand their third league title in a row.
