Moritz CE Vendrell v FC Barcelona: Fine start (2-9)

FC Barcelona have gone straight to the top of the OK Liga Last season's top scorer Pablo Álvarez already has four in this term's account

Barça got their OK Liga campaign off to a powerful start away to Mortiz CE Vendrell, the Spanish Cup champions and typically one of the strongest teams in the competition. They thus lead the table from day one.

Pablo Álvarez scored the first of his four goals after just one minute and got another just a few minutes later. The perfect beginning. Only five minutes had gone and it was already 0-3 thanks to Marc Torra. From then on, things quietened down, and although Lluís Ferrer got one back for the home side, Marc Miras soon added one at the other end to make it 1-4.

The constant pressure continued, and by the end of the half, Barça had made it to seven. Jordi Creus did pull one back for Vendrell, but they had a huge mountain to climb in the second half. A mountain that they didn’t even come close to climbing By the time Raul Marín made it to nine the only question left to ask was whether FCB could make it into double figures.

They didn’t, but they couldn’t have hoped for a much more promising first OK Liga performance as they prepare for Saturday’s Continental Cup second leg game with CE Noia at the Palau Blaugrana (12.30 PM CET). The first leg ended 0-0.
