The FC Barcelona roller hockey team beat Italian side Viareggio 5-0 on Saturday evening to book their place in the quarterfinals of the European League. Goalkeeper Sergi Fernández produced a fine performance while goals from Panadero and Pascual (first half) and Pablo Álvarez, Torra and Raúl Marín (second half) gave Barça a comfortable win in the Palau Blaugrana.
From 0-1 to 1-0
Panadero broke the early stalemate with an individual effort to wrong-foot Motaran before firing past Barozzi. In the move leading up to the goal, Sergi Fernández – back in goal after a two-match break – had prevented a sure goal from the visitors. From a possible 0-1 to 1-0. A great start for Barça.
Raúl Marín and Marc Torra had chances to add a second but were frustrated by an alert Barozzi. But even he was left helpless by a Matías Pascual thunderbolt that took the entire Italian team by surprise. Just before the break, the experienced Alessandro Bertolucci hit the post. At halftime, Barça led 2-0.
Three crossbars and three goals
There were plenty of thrills at the beginning of the second half as Barça (once - Pablo Álvarez) and Viareggio (twice) hit the frame of the goal.
Pablo Álvarez soon made up for his earlier miss to score Barça’s third of the evening and just a minute later Marc Torra made it 4-0. Raúl Marín added a fifth to seal a very comfortable win.
During the second half, Sergi Fernández had to go off for a few minutes for treatment to his head. Fortunately, the player was able to carry on without problems.
