Borregán's number to be retired on the 4th or 5th of May

The ex-captain will be the first player in the history of the team to have his number retired He's the player with the most titles won for the Club (58)

FC Barcelona have set a date to retire the number of Alberto Borregán, ex-captain of FC Barcelona’s roller hockey team. Borregán’s number will be retired on the first weekend of May. The exact time of the ceremony hasn’t been decided yet as the Club want to ensure a packed Palau Blaugrana ahead of the football match between FC Barcelona and Real Betis.

The number 21 alongside other legendary numbers

The 4th or 5th of May will go down in Club history as a special day seeing that this will be the first time the Club will retire a number from the roller hockey team, the most successful team in the Club. Beto Borregán’s 21 will hang alongside the numbers donned by Epi, Jiménez, Solozábal, Dueñas, Grau, Urdangarín, Masip, O’Callaghan and Barrufet.

Borregán, who played for the Blaugrana for 20 seasons and won 58 titles, claimed the Club’s first European Cup title in 1973, it was followed by 18 more European Cup crowns.

Trullols, Villacorta, Vila-Puig, the Troner brothers, Centell, Paüls, Ayats, Venteo, Cairo and ‘Negro’ Páez, among others, will attend the ceremony.

Press conference and presentation

On April 22, Beto Borregán will hold a press conference regarding the ceremony at the Palau Blaugrana press room. He’ll be accompanied by the director responsible for the team, Ramón Cierco.
