After conquering the King’s Cup, Gaby Cairo’s Barça team suffered its first defeat of the season at the hands of Igualada this week. The striker Palbo Álvarez explained the 4-2 result: “we were really eager to win, we had good expectations, but it wasn’t to be. We started off the first half a bit low but we picked ourselves up in the second. We were also a bit unlucky, they weren’t. They had the chances and they converted them.”

With that said, the Argentine is clear: “we have to pick ourselves up ahead of this weekend’s game.” Barça will host Viareggio this Friday (20:45) in the Champions League. “It’s a very important and complicated match. It will be at the Palau, our fans will be supporting us. We’re very excited and very eager for this Friday,” said Álvarez. Barça currently sits atop of their group with a one-point advantage over Candelaria and Viareggio.
