FC Barcelona’s roller hockey team have qualified for the semifinals of the Final Eight in Lodi. This Thursday they comfortably beat Oliveirense in the quarterfinals by 2-6. The result at the half was already 0-3, thanks for goals from Torra, Pablo Álvarez and Panadero. In the second half Barça secured the win with three goals from Reinaldo, Pablo Álvarez and Torra. The goals scored by Antonio Silva were all for not. The Catalans await their rival, either Reus or Lodi, in the next round.

Deadlock until the eight minute

The first minutes of the match were fairly equal in terms of the flow of the game. Barça, with more control, saw how Oliveirense fought for every ball and their clear strategy of scoring from counterattacks. Torra’s goal - which was knocked in after a cross from the right from Reinaldo- on eight minutes broke the deadlock and marked a turning point in the match.

From that moment on, FC Barcelona were more comfortable on the court. Pablo Álvarez made it two after a fast counterattack and Panadero, who featured in the team after a month on the sidelines, scored the 0-3 when he deflected Gual’s long-range shot. At the half, it was 0-3, the job was almost done.

Calm ending

Oliveirense timidly tried to react in the second half. A goal from Silva from a free hit brought one back for Oliveirense, but the 1-4 was quickly scored by Reinaldo, who took advantage of a loose ball after the penalty -which was committed by the manager-player Resende- he had taken bounced back to him. Later, Álvarez scored the best goal of the game by executing an individual play and fantastic shot to make it 1-5. FC Barcelona were close to the semifinals. In the final minutes, Torra knocked ih the 1-6 after a fantastic collective play. Before the end, Silva got his brace and made it 2-6.
