Barça’s roller hockey team officially presented its first signing of the season this Wednesday. It’s Sergi Miras, ex-Liceo player who learned how to play the game in Barça’s youth system. “Coming back here is the best. When you’re in the youth teams the dream is to make it to the first team. I left but now I’m very happy and full of pride that I returned,” he said.

The 26-year-old Barcelona-born player won the last two editions of the European League with Liceo, and he’s very clear about what his objectives are for the upcoming season: “the goal is to win titles, we have a great team. After winning two European championships in a row, I’d like to win the OK Liga and my third European title.” Miras is convinced that this next chapter in his career will “go very well.”

Cairo: “He adds character to the team”

The presentation, which was in the press room at the Camp Nou, was attended by the director responsible for the team, Ramón Cierco, and the manager Gaby Cairo. Cierco welcomed the new player and declared: “he’s returned home to complete a team that has brought us a lot of success.” The manager knows exactly what he wants out of his new player: “he’ll need to adapt to the team, however, his role will be the same here as it was with Liceo. He brings character to the side and we want him to spread that to his teammates. We want him to get involved with the team and I’m sure he’ll do a good job.”

The Azulgrana manager is very pleased to have recuperated a “fantastic player that feels the colours of the team.” Furthermore, Cairo defined Miras as a “player that can play in different positions, who is adept on the attack and has a terrific shot. He can open the game up and he looks to play without the ball at his stick.” He added: “he’s very complete and he’s matured. We hope that he’ll improve even more as now he’s under the guidance of some fantastic players.” Cairo also talked about what he was looking for in a new player: “we were looking for players that could identify and commit to this project.” According to the manager, Miras was the ideal candidate.
