Barça’s roller hockey team intensely trained on Thursday and Friday to prepare for the OK Liga  clash this Sunday with Igualada (12:30). “We had three days of rest to forget about the Cup, now it’s time to focus on the Liga,” said Gaby Cairo. The Azulgrana manager explained that the break was necessary after three intense days in Vilanova i la Geltrú: “We disconnected one competition from the other. We won the Cup. Great. But now we have to turn the page and focus on Sunday.”

The clash with “a very complicated rival ... Igualada will make sure to test us. They are a great team on the court, they play hockey really well. It’s a court that has always been difficult for us,” said Cairo after today’s training session.

Ambitious leaders

Barça will visit Les Comes as solo leaders atop the OK Liga standings with a 10 point advantage over Coinasa Liceo. “We’ll go with ambition and we’ll try to make sure that the Cup hangover isn’t a factor.” According to the manager, the team’s style will not change: “we’re going to try to win, like we do in every game we play.”

Igualada, one the historic teams in the OK Liga, currently sits in eight with 21 points, 22 adrift of Barça. The match will be a good test ahead of the Champions League match next Friday, March 16th, against Viareggio.
