CP Vic applaud the champions onto the court / VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

Barça stormed to the league title by winning 28 games, with just won draw and one defeat to set a record haul of 85 points. But it was still a competitive context that wasn’t decided until week 27, when Barça beat their closest rivals Liceo 7-4 at the Palau per 7-4 and the Galicians lost in Reus the week after.

Champions on the bus

Barça learned that they had mathematically secured the title while they were travelling to their game in Vic. Aitor Egurrola, who thus became champion for the 15th time, admitted that this was the strangest way he could ever remember celebrating the feat. The celebrations on the coach had to be calmed down when they arrived an hour later, but the players kept their heads to win 3-1 at CP Vic.

Almost perfect

Barça flew off to an 11-0 record in their opening games, whereupon a last ditch goal from Raül Marín at Liceo snatched a point that felt like a victory. Barça went back to their winning ways, right through to the only defeat of the campaign, 1-0 at Voltregà. But that was just an isolated slip-up and they went on to win all 11 of their remaining matches, while Liceo dropped points here and there, and the title was soon in the bag with a record tally of 85 points.
