A fast winger with the ability to score and an affinity for strong defence Rivera is a well-rounded player who can cause problems for the opposition all over the court.

Valero Rivera is following in his father’s footsteps as a professional handball player for FC Barcelona. His father was not only a player, but also the coach of the legendary Dream Team of handball. The son took his first steps a the Escola SAFA d’Horta.

After coming to Barça, Rivera rose through several categories until reaching the first team. Like many others who had to go elsewhere to continue growing, Rivera went to BM Aragó from 2005 to 2007.

He then spent one season each at Algeciras, Guadalajara and Octavio before making the big jump to HBC Nantes of the French League, where he played from 2010 to 2016.

At Nantes he matured and won individual recognition. That led to his being named to the Spanish National Team, with which he won the 2013 World Champinship in Barcelona.
