A solid defence and fast counterattacks are key to the blaugranes first win of the new domestic league campaign

Xavi Pascual’s side played an excellent match to kick off the Liga Asobal with a 50-24 win over the recently promoted Secin Group Alcobendas. Barça Lassa, who doinated the game throughout, won thanks to their excellent defensive solidity and their effectiveness in the counterattack. Aleix Gómez and Mortensen were the top performers with seven goals each.

At 2-1, Pascual’s side went behind for the only time in the match and the blaugrana coach made some changes in defence and focused on counterattacks. Barça Lassa responded with 10 minutes gone as they moved two goals ahead (4-6). Aleix Gómez impressed in the opening 15 minutes with four goals.

Barça Lassa were playing with rhythm and they were efficient in both defence and attack. Added to Entrerríos’s performance, with three consecutive goals, and Kevin Mortensen, with 5, led the blaugranes to a lead of 13 at the break with all 16 of the players in the match day squad on the scoresheet (11-26).

In the second half, the blaugranes didn’t stop pushing and they managed to extend their lead. The game ended with a comfortable score of 24-50. This result, means Barça Lassa have beaten their scoring record away from home by two goals as they went a step further than the 2015/16 victory against Teucro by 25-48. The next match is on Wednesday as the VELUX EHF Champions League kicks off against Rhein-Neckar Löwen at 7.00pm CET.
