Barça Lassa's great victory against Pick Szeged at the Palau Blaugrana (28-27), completed the second phase of the Champions League groups. After Nantes draw at Rhein-Neckar Löwen (30-30), the culers needed both points to draw level with the French team on 20 points. Xavi Pascual's men finished second in group A and made sure they’ll play the return game against Montepellier and any hypothetical quarterfinal in the Palau Blaugrana.

Fast paced from the beginning

Both teams got to work quickly in the first half, the visitors managing to stay ahead in the first few minutes. The Blaugrana were up by the nine minute mark, and it was an advantage that they held throughout the game. On 23 minutes, Barça would increase their lead to 14-11, Dika Mem the most prominent for the hosts with four goals.

In the second half, Barça kept the scoreboard ticking along but, little by little, the visitors reacted. In spite of Pick Szeged’s incessant desire, however, the hosts kept them at bay.

A late goal by N'Guessan meant Barça were just one ahead with 30 seconds left, meaning the excitement continued right to the end.
