Kristianstad – Barça Lassa: Solid victory based on defence (21-26)

The blaugranes end their away trips in the Champions League with a well-earned win that places them provisionally second in their group

The Barça Lassa handball side beat Norwegian side Kristianstad 26-21 away from home with Aleix Gómez and Dika Mem outstanding in attack as was Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas in goal. Barça Lassa started the contest in fine form, scoring five times in the early minutes of the game. The Norwegians were taken aback but they gradually found their feet and Barça found it trickier to break them down as the first half progressed.

Kristianstad also began to get their act together going forward and by half time they had reduced the blaugranes lead to 11-8. Nevertheless, another five unanswered goals gave Barça a 16-8 lead not long into the second half. The visitors took control of the game and with Aleix Gómez also in fine form on the wing and with the defence also nigh on impregnable, the lead stretched to 23-11 with 20 minutes played in the second half.

Barça closed out the 26-21 win calmly and the victory places the team in second place in their group with Nantes and Vardar to play this Sunday. If the French team lose Barça would need a win at home in the last game of the group stage to clinch second place.
