FC Barcelona Lassa – Kolding: Come from behind win (28-25)

Lazarov (10) and Jicha (7) were top scorers for the blaugranes who come from 8-1 down to claim an important win against the Danes

Barça Lassa earned a hard fought win by 28-25 over Kolding in the their sixth game of this season’s Champions League, allowing Xavi Pascual’s side to occupy second place in Group B just a point behind leaders Vardar.

The Danish side initially surprised Barça with their defensive intensity. Former blaugrana Kasper Hvidt was unbeatable early on in goal for Kolding and with Spellerberg and Andersson combining well in attack, the visitors took an early 8-1 lead at the Palau with 10 minutes played. Barça pulled another one back and that appeared to kick start the blaugranes, Entrerrios and Jicha leading from the front, the latter would seven goals by the end.

Second half turnaround

Barça were still behind 13-11 at half time but it did take them long to turn things around. Lazarov scored twice in quick succession to level things up. Kolding reacted and went ahead again but Barça’s excellent defensive work nullified the threat of Spellerberg and Andersson in the second half (only five goals between them) with Ariño playing an important part. In the final minutes, Lazarov’s effectiveness in front of goal and Ariño’s two goals in two minutes were key in handing the blaugranes an important 28-25 win.
