Barça are back in the Superglobe Final after beating an El Jaish side that performed well in the first half but were eventually outclassed.

Events in the other semi-final were a stern warning to Barça. Al Sadd stunned European champions Flensburg and El Jaish’s first half display against the Catalans was similarly strong. The Qataris were 10-8 up after 18 minutes, but goals from Sigurdsson and Lazarov, saves from Pérez de Vargas, and a welcome contribution from Raúl Entrerríos, recovered from his eye trouble, started setting things straight, and by the break Barça were four-up at 19-14).

The home side were unable to reduce the deficit in the second half. Barça did well to remain intense, especially in defence, where El Jaish were gradually feeling more and more smothered. Two majestic scores from Karabatic and Lazarov and some top goalkeeping from Gonzalo set up a 30-20 with fifteen minutes to go, and the end was in sight. Pascual could finally afford to rotate his bench, and it all finished 39-29.
