Barça keep on looking good in the Champions League. This evening, in their third group stage match, they handed Besiktas a 35-25 defeat. It was quite an entertaining encounter, especially in the frenetic first quarter. It was in the second quarter that Barcelona grabbed Besiktas by the horns, with the help of Gonzalo Perez de Vargas and Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson, and came to the half with a comfortable lead

Besiktas were fast at the outset, taking an early 4-2 lead. A Barça time out gave them time to think and react, resulting in a three-goal burst that would put them up 5-4. The lead only grew from there, as Barcelona got more comfortable. They began to bring in subs to give the starters a breather. Besiktas' Feuchtmann and their goalkeeper Ozmusul were the only thing between Barça and big lead, keeping the game somewhat close at 15-11 in the 26th minute. Barça then hit the gas before the half, running the score to 19-12.

The teams' defences slacked a bit and both sides went back and forth in the second half with Barça's lead growing to 25-17 in the 41st minute. With five minutes left Besiktas managed to get to within five at 30-25, but Barça smelled the fire and quickly put it out. The defence stood rigid and the offense kept coming.
