Barça’s handball team began their defence of the Super Globe title in Doha with  a comfortable win over hosts Al-Saad, who despite being behind for most of the game, never threw the towel in.

Led by Lazarov, who scored four goals in the first half, Barça went in 17-12 up at the break and then stretched away to a 32-22 lead with five minutes to go. Al-Saad refused to give up and finally restricted the score to 34-25.

The team face Sydney University in their next game of the group stage, at one o’clock this Monday lunchtime in Doha.
