Barça set for Super Globe 2014 debut

On Sunday, Barça begin their defence of the Super Globe title they won last year. We take a look at the three group B rivals they’ll need to beat to reach the competition’s semi-finals.
First up, Al-Sadd
Barça’s first opponents in Doha are hosts Al-Sadd de Qatary who they face on Sunday at 7.15 PM CET. Al-Sadd de Doha were founded in 1969 and this will be their fifth participation in a Super Globe, having won the competition in 2002, reached the final in 2002 and taken third place in 2012.
Sydney University
Sydney University represent the Oceania area and this is the Australian team’s third appearance in the competition. Probably the weakest team in the group, Sydney face Barça on Monday at 1.00 PM CET.
Espérance
FC Barcelona close the group stage on Tuesday at 1.0 PM CET against the current African champions, Tunisia’s Espérance. Esperance Sportive de Tunis have won their national championship on 29 ocassions and are the leading club in the country.
