The Spanish national team will play in Alicante in the London Olympic qualifiers on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of April against Algeria, Poland and Serbia. The national manager, Valero Rivera, has named seven players that learned the sport in FC Barcelona’s youth system.

The Azulgranas

Four of the players currently play for FC Barcelona Alusport. Víctor Tomás and Cristian Ugalde started in the Club’s youth system and eventually, coming up through the reserve teams, reached the first team.

Mikel Aguirrezabalaga and Viran Morros arrived to the Barça youth system after starting out in other Asobal teams.

Past Azulgranas

Three of the players that used to play in Barça youth squad are now playing for other top-flight teams. The winger Jorge Maqueda, who plays for Caja3 BM Aragón, got his start at Barça.

The keeper of BM Valladolid, José Manuel Sierra, arrive to Barcelona from Huelva where he spent four seasons.

The attacker Valero Rivera Folch came to the Barça youth system after playing for various Asobal teams and with Nantes in France.
