Xavi Pascual.

Barça Intersport will return to the league competition after the international break with a flurry of matches. The first is against Antequera this Saturday. The manager Xavi Pascual is clear that he doesn’t want his players focusing on anything other than the match at hand: “the most important match is against Antequera and winning the two points. Nothing else. The rest will come in time. We can think about Octavio afterward.” In fact, the leaders of the league will play two matches in as many days.

Wary of tomorrow’s rival

Despite the difference in the table between the two teams, Pascual warned of the dangers that Antequera will bring to the court. “Antequera is a place were we never have played well. I hope it’s not like that tomorrow. We have to be aware of the moment we are in and what we’re playing for.” This is why he has urged his men “to be focused on their work.”

He also talked about the type of play he anticipates from Antequera: “We know that they are a team that utilize two defensive systems, the 5-1 and the 6-0. They’ve had important injuries in January but they’ve won important matches at home nonetheless.” According to the manager, “the teams that are fighting to stay out of the relegation zone are very dangerous. I’m anticipating an Antequera that will fight for the game and a packed stadium with completely committed fans.”

Three absences

Pascual also explained that some of his players have returned from the international break with slight injuries. In fact, three players will not travel to Antequera: Ugalde and Rocas, for technical decisions, and Dani Sarmiento, injured.
