Taking a look at the four big European handball leagues, Asobal, Toyota Bundesliga, Jack and Jones League and the French League, in the lead up to the international break, only two teams count their games with victories.

Insatiable in the Asobal

FC Barcelona Intersport is the undefeated leader of the Asobal with 23 wins from 23 matches. The Azulgranas sit atop of the table with BM Atlético Madrid in hot pursuit.

Furthermore, Barça are qualified for the quarterfinals which will be them against the leader of the Jack and Jones League, AG Copenhagen. The Danish team lead their League with 23 victories, 1 draw and 2 defeats.

Unbeaten in the Bundesliga

THW Kiel are dominating the Toyota Bundesliga are are currently undefeated. The Germans have played 26 matches and won all of them.

The team led by Alfred Gislasson, the only manager to have won two European Cups with two different teams (Magdeburgo and THW Kiel), are also alive and kicking in Europe. Their next match up is against Croatia Zagreb.

The Croats are playing in the Seha - league for teams from the now dissolved Yugoslavia and Hungary - and sit atop of the table with 12 victories, 2 draws and one defeat.

Leaders that lose points

Montpelier HB is no longer part of the select club of teams that have not lost points in their respective national competitions. The daw against Nantes was the first point that the men led by Patrice Canayer of the season.

Hungary’s Veszprem are leaders of their League but they’ve lost one match from 22. 

Another undefeated team

Apart from the teams that play in the four biggest European leagues there is another team that have won all of their matches. Russia’s Chehovskie Medvedi have won all 21 of their domestic league matches so far.
