FC Barcelona Lassa- UMA Antequera: Unlucky draw (5-5)

Marc Carmona's side slip up for the first time this season in the league at home in the Palau against the surprisingly resilient Andalusians

Fortune did not favour FC Barcelona Lassa as they slipped up at home in the Palau for the first time this season. UMA Antequera held Marc Carmona’s side to a draw, the struggling visitors seemingly inspired by the atmosphere on the blaugranes’ own home turf. The team from Málaga went ahead in the game on four separate occasions but the home side always had an answer. When the blaugranes appeared to have the game won at 5-4, a mistake allowed the Andalusians back in with Barça missing out on the chance to put pressure on league leaders Inter Movistar.

The visitors put up an impressive performance on their first ever visit to the Palau. Antequera went ahead in the game thanks to a great strike from Oscar. The blaugranes reacted quickly and within two minutes they were level with Wilde making it 1-1. Barça had the better of the game at that point but visiting keeper Alberto showed his ability to keep them at bay. The home side fell behind again only for Lin, Wilde and Bateria to combine, the latter making the score 2-2. It appeared the sides would go in at half time all square but a goal from Javi Sánchez just 13 seconds before the break gave Antequera the advantage.

Victory denied

In the second half, Aicardo soon brought things all square with an excellent long range volley. Nevertheless, the unfancied side from the south of Spain bounced back once again, Tete putting them ahead again with a deflected goal. Barça’s Ferrao appeared to have turned things in the blaugranes’ favour with two goals in just over two minutes to put Carmona’s side 5-4 up. However, in the final minutes, the visitors sacrificed their goalkeeper and their gamble paid off with Tete’s shot being headed home by Armando to make it 5-5. Saad had a chance to win to for the blaugranes but his effort came back off the woodwork to condemn the home side to the fate of dropping points in the Palau for the first time this season in the league.
