“I couldn’t be in a better club. Barça have given me all the love and confidence in order for me to demonstrate that I can be of value.” This is what Sergio Lozano said after he extended his contract with FC Barcelona Alusport through 2017. The Azulgrana, whose contract was due to expire after the 2013/14 season, signed a contract extension this Tuesday that will keep him with the Club for another five years. “This gives me the stability and tranquility that everyone needs. Now I have to focus on my game.”

This season was the 23-year-old’s first year as an Azulgrana. Lozano finished as the highest scorer of the Liga, 33 goals, in his debut season with FC Barcelona. “I’m adapting really well to the city. I’m learning Catalan, I understand almost everything. The climate is fantastic, the conditions for staying here many years are idyllic.”

Carmona: “This is excellent news”

The manager Marc Carmona also talked about Lozano’s contract extension. “It’s great news for the team, for the present and the future,” he said. He added that he hopes the Barça player leaves his mark on FC Barcelona’s futsal team. “He’s shown that he’s happy here and we hope that he’ll mark an era with FC Barcelona.” Despite Lozano’s good season, Carmona believes that “if he wants, he can be an even better player as time goes on.”
