Barça Alusport close out the 2013/14 season with four titles

Yet another season full of titles for FC Barcelona Alusport, a team that finished the 2013/14 season winning the European crown and their first ever Spanish Super Cup. On the other hand, however, Marc Carmona’s men were unable to defend their league and Spanish Cup titles.

In total, the team added four out of six trophies to their recently minted exposition in the FC Barcelona Museum.

With the same team they had last season, the Copa Catalunya kicked off the season for Barça Alusport. The blaugrana won the title after eliminated Hospitalet Bell Sport in the semifinal and Marfil Santa Coloma in the final.

The following month brought in the Spanish Supercup, a title that the team had never won before. In a very hard-fought final against ElPozo Murcia, Barça won the trophy thanks to the 0-1 from the first leg and 5-5 in the second leg at the Palau.

Having not signed anyone in the summer, Barça Alusport brought in Dyego in the winter transfer window.

La Liga

In the league, Carmona’s men struggled to maintain form and that ended up costing them at the end of the competition; they finished third in the regular season. In the quarterfinals they eliminated Montesinos Jumilla, but in the semifinals, not having home-court advantage, they were eliminated by ElPozo Murcia.

UEFA Futsal Cup

Barça were unable to reclaim the league title, but they did manage to become European champions. Two years after winning their first UEFA Futsal Cup, Barça Alusport battled their way to Bakú and defeated Araz Naxçivan (4-5) in the semifinals. In the final they bester MFK Dinamo Moscow by 2 to 3. In that match Barça battled from behind to force extra time.

Positive and negative results in the Copa del Rey and the Copa España

In the Copa del Rey and Copa España, Barça’s luck was varied. Days after winning the UEFA Futsal Cup the team travelled to Bilbao to play in the final of the Copa del Rey against ElPozo Murcia. In yet another breathtaking match against the Murcianos, extra time was required to decide the winner. Fernandao netted the title-winning goal in overtime (4-3). In the Copa España, Barça faced off against Inter Movistar in the semifinals and lost (6-1).

At the conclusion of the season players Jordi Torras, Fernandao and Igor bid farewell to Barça Alusport.
