Fuenlabrada - Barça Lassa: First defeat in the ACB League (79-73)

The Blaugranes weren’t able to add another victory and lose their unbeaten record in the domestic competition

Barça Lassa were beaten by Fuenlabrada (79-73) in a very tight match in which the culés paid for their lack of success in front of the basket.

Pesic's team were surprised by the defensive intensity of Fuenlabrada but despite that, and thanks to two triples from Claver and Ribas, the visitors were able to get a foothold in the game after the hosts had pulled clear almost from the first whistle (10-9, min 5). Neither team exceeded 40 percent in terms of shots in the first 20 minutes, evidencing how tight and tactical the battle had become.

Though Barça Lassa used their bench well, their luck didn’t improve other than from the free throw line. It kept them in the game at half-time, with the scores at 35-34 in favour of Fuenlabrada.

Free scoring

In the first three minutes of the second half, Barça scored freely (10 points to two), and went seven ahead on the scoreboard. From there, they increased their intensity and continued adding to their tally. However, Fuenlabrada managed to reduce the distance thanks to some first-class defending, and then a three-point exchange to put them ahead (57-55).

As the clock wound down, too many of Barça’s shots didn’t find their target, and with their rivals taking full advantage, it meant the visitors ended up suffering their first defeat in the ACB League this season (79-73).
