Olympiacos - Barça Lassa: A prestigious win in Piraeus (63-90)

Svetislav Pesic's men were victorious at one of the most difficult venues in the Euroleague thanks to a very complete game in attack and defence

Barça Lassa were excellent in every aspect of their win over Olympiacos (63-90). Very intense at all times, deploying a good defence whilst being very successful in attack, the Blaugranes emerged victorious in Piraeus, one of the most difficult venues in the Euroleague. Tomic (19 points), Moerman (17) and Koponen (14 ) were the most successful players for the visitors.

The start of the game saw many attempts from Barça Lassa, who dominated the offensive rebound. They didn’t allow Olympiacos the opportunity to counterattack, and in so doing, surged ahead on the scoreboard (12-18, min 8).

Having control of the game ensured that the Greek team were uncomfortable in front of their own fans, but even so, the hosts came right back into the match and were almost level at the break (38-40).

Great third quarter for Barça Lassa

Despite the fact that Olympiacos then went ahead, Barça’s superior defensive play allowed them to build again. By the 26th minute, the visitors were up by 16 points (41-57). Koponen, and Heurtel pushed the visitors on, but Olympiacos reacted again to reduce the advantage (52-63).

Two consecutive three-pointers from Navarro in the final period helped Barça Lassa regain control, and this time they didn’t let it slip. Seventeen points without reply in the final minutes meant a comfortable 63-90 victory. On Sunday, the Blaugranes will visit Burgos (6.30pm CET) in the match corresponding to the 23rd round of the domestic competition.
